I've finished with all my emergency work and now returning to dark

Fantastic news!!!

I've added some to-do info on dark's homepage. You can see: my primary goal is not to be the best on MFC,... but the time will come and dark with new engine and set of filters will show you how good the BWT compressor may be

Looking forward to the next release!

Thanks!
It's a good news! I'm lucky to be the second

The last weeks weren't wasted. The GUI version is being beta-tested. It has a simple solid mode (enabled by default) that sometimes shows results that are better than -s1,-s2 and -s3

But GUI version will not be opened to public until the compression engine is completed...

I'm REALLY looking forward to the release of your GUI version.

Any plans about when that will happen?

I think it would be a good idea to start a new thread here when you release the GUI version.

I'm curious to see what the GUI looks like. WinZip style perhaps?

Any chance of a couple of screen shots uploaded here:

No plans, only inspiration makes the play. I'm currently in the stage of stagnation with that engine improvement. I have the theory but the practise ruins any suggestions...

It will be

I'll make the apperance more usable and send you some in a week.

Well, such kind of messages actually was generated by (ro)bots - they search for popular topics listed in search engines (Google, etc.). And they have no understanding about any rules. The only one way is delete such kind of messages and ban (ro)bot's IP. I have a thousands of black IPs in my database....

Is this also true for the spam that is frequently posted in the Maximum Compression Guestbook?

http://www.maximumcompression.com/guestbook/guestb ook.php

At the moment 22 SPAM messages have been posted using different names and locations all in a very short time period.

Many (if not Most) spammers are linking to sites that install malware, dialers, adware, trojans, rootkits, etc.

An example are those spam messages in italian, it's likely that they link to sites that download malware from gromozon
If you want to know about that site you can read this analysis (22 pages - 1MB) by Marco Giuliani, a researcher for the security company Prevx:
"The strange case of Dr.Rootkit and Mr.Adware" http://pcalsicuro.phpsoft.it/gromozon.pdf

A free removal tool was released by the same company http://www.prevx.com/gromozon.asp

Fortunately sometimes spammers receive what they deserve

If one more spam message will be posted here, I close this topic and start a new one. (Like DARK (part 2))
